Massimo De Palo
Massimo De Palo is an Italian photographer, born and raised in Italy. Driven by curiosity and a desire to explore, his photographic practice moves between travel, documentary, and everyday life, reflecting an ongoing interest in the ways people inhabit and relate to the world around them. Through his lens, he observes the relationship between individuals and their environments, capturing the atmosphere of a place as much as its visible details. His work is guided by an openness to different experiences and a desire to discover new perspectives through the act of looking.

With a particular sensitivity to light, colour, and atmosphere, De Palo is drawn to ordinary moments, human connections, and the subtle details that often go unnoticed. His photographs balance quiet, contemplative scenes with more layered observations of people, places, and everyday situations. Rather than seeking extraordinary events, he finds inspiration in the nuances of daily life: a gesture, a fleeting expression, the quality of light falling on a surface, or the unexpected encounter between a person and their surroundings. Through these observations, his images reveal the poetry and complexity hidden within seemingly familiar scenes.
I don’t think photography has ever really been about technical perfection for me. It’s about that
strange feeling I get when something catches my eye, something I can’t quite explain. Maybe it’s
nostalgia, maybe it’s a memory, or maybe it’s just the way the light falls. I only know that when I’m
photographing, I feel connected to something inside me.

Working intuitively, De Palo allows wandering, unexpected encounters, and the experience of being somewhere to shape his photographic approach. His practice develops through an ongoing dialogue between observation and intuition, leaving room for chance and for the unexpected to influence the final image. Moving between different places and situations, he builds a visual narrative that reflects both the external world and his personal way of experiencing it. His photographs invite viewers to slow down and look more closely, finding beauty, emotion, and meaning in the seemingly ordinary.
