Andrey Metelev
Andrey Metelev is a photographer originally from Sochi, now based in Saint Petersburg. In 2021, he made the decision to leave his previous profession and fully dedicate himself to photography, embarking on a journey of artistic and personal growth. After relocating, he studied under several of Saint Petersburg’s leading photographers, attended painting workshops, and took a course in film history.
His visual sensitivity is strongly influenced by painting and frequent visits to art galleries, which have shaped his perception perhaps even more than cinema or photography itself.
For Metelev, photography is at once an image, a fragile sense of memory, and a method of presence—a quiet act of observing and engaging with the present moment, capturing its fleeting poetry and translating it into visual narratives.
For me, photography is a constant reproduction of myself, and each shot is a test of connection. I am grateful that I have a photography, and the photography has me.
